january junk

The new year began with lots of dancing.

Like an embarrassing amount of dancing:

Addie is already done with this year:

Glorious things happen at In-N-Out:

We caught a murderer in Old Town San Diego (http://www.murdermysteryscavengerhunt.com/) :

We watched a storm brew:

I got to take care of this guy:

I got to take care of this lady too. Is she ready to perform a coronary artery bypass graft surgery or poop outside in a light drizzle? No one will ever know:

Addie was so excited for her birthday present that she carried it all the way home:

We got to watch this projected in a theater full of fans:

My new writing station:

Spoiled dog:

Like really spoiled:

Nick and I went to Israel:

We flew back home over the North Pole:

I broke my glasses and had to MacGyver them together with medical tape and pieces of nasal strips until my new glasses came in:

So that was fun.

israel photo essay

Nick had nerd training in Israel for a week and a half and I decided to join him. Below is a photo essay of our time there.

I don't think I ever went an entire hour without seeing a cat:

This explains all the cats:

Don't let the wings fool you:

Wandering around Old Jaffa, the oldest port in the world:

I ate a dessert that looked like shag carpeting and had the taste and texture of frosted mini-wheats that have been soaking in maple syrup all day while listening to a street performer sing "Super Freak" in Hebrew:

View of Tel Aviv:

Dinner at The Old Man and the Sea. We haven't even ordered yet:

We found a gas station/restaurant that has Elvis everything:

Old Jaffa at night:

We found a hanging tree. Frustratingly, the plaque on the wall does not explain it. It just states that oranges have been grown in Jaffa for a long time:

The road where the good Samaritan found the  beaten traveler:

Floating in the Dead Sea:

The caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered:

The Western Wall:

Jerusalem:

The stone slab where Jesus was prepared for burial:

Church of the Holy Sepulchre:

The star marks where Jesus was born:

 Dome of the Rock:

Shortly before it began to hail and snow:

O Little Town of Bethlehem:

Watching the storm brew:

The ruins of Masada:

Our time here comes to a close:

Hope you enjoyed them.
