animal facts

Summer camp is coming to a close, and I am so full of random animal facts that I just need to unleash them all on you guys. And pictures of our animals because I am going to miss them all now that they have found their forever homes.

1) French Poodles are from Germany.

Lulu.

2) A tiger's skin is striped like their fur.

3) A blue whale's tongue weighs as much as an elephant.

4) Flying fish can glide the length of two football fields.

5) A chinchilla can jump 6 feet into the air.

Chin-chillin'.

6) Hermit crabs live in big groups.

7) Scorpions can live off of one bug per year if they need to.

Harry the Mexican red kneed tarantula. I can't actually hold him because of his urticating hairs.

8) The largest squid on Earth has eyes the size of beach balls.

9) Frogs use the back of their eyes to help push food down their throats when they swallow.

10) The kick of an ostrich can kill a lion.

11) A cheetah can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds (which is the same for a Tesla car).

 12) Rabbits are born blind.

13) Elephants can smell water up to 3 miles away.

14) When a cat walks, their back paws line up almost perfectly with the prints of their front paws to leave less tracks.

15) Otters hold hands when they sleep in the water so they don't drift apart (and it is the cutest thing that has ever happened on the face of the Earth).

16) Hippos make their own sunscreen, an oily red substance that also acts as a moisturizer.

17) Ants have no lungs. WHAAAAAAAAAAT?
