some things from september

This month, Nick and I finished up our trip:

And spent 70% of this month getting over jet lag:

And the other 30% was unpacking:

My magnet collection continues to grow. I will need a second fridge soon:

And we made a few new friends:

My Dad got me some awesome postcards:

And this is the second pumpkin spice latte I have had in my entire life:

Then I got sick for a bit and Addie helped by sitting on my feet all day:

Nick tried to make mochi, but then forgot to add the mochi flour, so I'm not really sure what he actually ended up making:

There were many cuddles:

My new hairdresser re-purpled my hair:

Beauty regimens are a weird thing:

I got to dog sit Addie's best bud:

And got a face mask that makes me look like a panda. It was not designed for my type of nose or lips. Again, beauty regimens are a weird thing:

We had a brief visit to the Folsom Street Fair:

And watched the moon turn red and get weird:

Not pictured: Nick fumbling through the one verse he knows of "Total Eclipse of the Heart":

how to start a blog in 10 minutes

I follow a number of writing boards on Pinterest. Every time I am scrolling through, I come across at least one pin that tells me it will show me how to set up a blog in 10 minutes. Some of them even advertise free how-to videos just in case the written instructions are beyond me.

I don't really understand why people feel the need to write so many long and detailed posts for something where the directions are in the action itself.

How to start a blog--

Step 1: Start a blog

Congratulations. You have started a blog.
Next week, I will enlighten you all with the secret of how to inhale and exhale in the correct order.

aspects of august

This month, I sat a dog that had some serious tennis ball issues:

I have the sweetest clients:

I got things done to my hair:

 It's purple now!:

We got a visit from Amanda:

And we all went to go visit the de Young Fine Arts Museum:

Where one of her favorite artists was being exhibited:

They also had a cool observatory tower:

And modern art we did not understand:

Then we went camping with Nick's family:

There was a lot of posing in front of lakes:

Just a lot of lakes in general:

So many lakes:

Addie swam the farthest she has ever swam:

All for a stick:

 Lots of swimming happened:

The clouds were pretty cool that weekend:

EXCUSE ME WHILE I KISS THE SKY:

There was also a number of hikes:

And more lakes:

And more posing:

And then Nick and I went to Japan.

We did not visit any lakes there.

Here are some panoramas I took in Japan. Japanoramas, if you will.

Rikugien Gardens:

Nick at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building:

The hike down from the summit of Mount Fuji:

We were stuck in a mountain hut when a typhoon went over us in the early morning, but the clouds parted by lunch:

Statue Stairs leading to a temple in Hatsukaichi:

Iwatayama Monkey Park, a hill where wild monkeys hang out and you can go into a little hut and feed them apples and peanuts from a window:

Tea ceremony in a rainstorm:

Boxed Sake:

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove:

Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple:

Fushimi Inari Shrine:

Trains that actually run on time:

Dotonbori nightlife:

Bullet Train:

Hakone Open Air Museum:

Women's floor at a capsule hotel:

Vending machines everywhere:

Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima:

Itsikushima Shrine:

The tranquility was only slightly marred by the wild deer that kept sticking their heads into my purse in order to find snacks:

Disaster waiting to happen:

Tokyo Sea:

Tokyo Tower:

Tokyo Disney:

At night:

Hope you enjoyed them!
